Hollow Shaft Encoders sense absolute position magnetically.

Press Release Summary:

Resistant to humidity and condensation, Kubler by TURCK 3650 and 3670 encoder series provide resolution of 9 bits with SSI, 4-20 mA, or 0-10 V output. Both feature IP69K protection rating and operate over -40 to +85°C range. Suited for outdoor use, encoders feature die-cast housing and are resistant to shock (500+ g) and vibration (30+ g). Magnets can be configured for suitable measuring range (45°, 90°, 180°, or 360°) as needed in application.

Encoders Sense Absolute Position Magnetically

Minneapolis, Minn. - TURCK introduces a new series of encoders that measure absolute position magnetically, rather than optically. The Kubler by TURCK 3650 and 3670 encoder series function in many applications that had previously been off limits to absolute encoders. The encoders provide a resolution of 9 bits with SSI, 4 to 20 mA, or 0 to 10 V output.

The 3650 and 3670 magnetic encoder series provide a longer service life and higher reliability compared to potentiometers or commercial grade encoders, and they are especially resistant to humidity and condensation. The encoders feature an IP69K protection rating and temperature range of -40 to 85°C, making the encoders ideal for outdoor use. Sturdy die-cast housing and an extremely high resistance to shock (>500 g) and vibration (>30 g) make these encoders better able to withstand difficult environmental conditions, thus preventing machine stoppages and the need for repairs.

The encoder's compact design and blind hollow shaft of up to 10 mm allows it to be mounted in space restricted locations and on a tight radius - even with large shafts. Additionally, the magnets can be configured for a suitable measuring range (45°, 90°, 180° or 360°) as needed in the application. Integrated LEDs for reference point detection facilitate start-up and simplify fault diagnostics during maintenance.
