GE Fanuc Announces VME Gigabit Ethernet Switch with Layer 3 Support for Routing

Offering managed control, services and flexibility

Huntsville, Ala. - GE Fanuc introduces its newest Gigabit Switch, RM920, a Managed Layer 2/3 switch for VME applications with full wire-speed performance allowing the fastest quality-of-service (QoS) processing coupled with layer 2/3 based switching. GE Fanuc's Gigabit Ethernet switches reduce bottlenecks, enable applications that improve business productivity and competitiveness, and add intelligence that prioritizes and secures traffic.

The RM920 is a high level solution with fully managed capability via SNMP or Telnet. The management software capabilities include: QoS on Layers 2/3 and 802.1p tag, deep packet filtering, Link Aggregation (802.3ad), Spanning Tree, Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol (RSTP), 802.1Q VLAN standard, Broadcast Storm Control and Port Mirroring. All ports are routed to the front panel and can be provided with mixed combinations of copper (RJ45) and fiber (LC) connectors.

Available in two variants, the RM920 is ideal for applications looking for either 10 ports of Gigabit Ethernet (single slot) or up to 20 ports Gigabit Ethernet (dual slot). It is designed to be used as a high speed interconnect within a server blade chassis or as a core switch in fault-tolerant clusters of embedded systems.

GE Fanuc's RM920 is available now.
