Emerson Introduces Compact Flow Computer for Positive Displacement, Turbine, and Ultrasonic Metering

New FloBoss(TM) 104 Flow Manager offers superior performance over electronic flow correctors

MARSHALLTOWN, IA (SEPTEMBER 28, 2004) - Emerson Process Management's newest member of the FloBoss 100-series product family of compact flow computers, the FloBoss 104, performs API 21.1 compliant flow measurement when used with pulse-generating meters such as positive displacement (PD) meters, turbine meters, and ultrasonic meters. It offers superior performance over electronic flow correctors and is priced competitively with correctors outfitted for host communications.

The FloBoss 104 offers the natural gas transmission and distribution industries these outstanding benefits:

· API Chapter 21.1 and AGA7/8 compliant flow measurement for turbine, PD, and ultrasonic meters.

· Suitable for Class I, Division 1 or Division 2 installations

· Integrated dial-up or radio-based host communications options

· Windows-based configuration tools

· Pre-configured historical databases

· I/O expandability

· PID Control, FST and User C programming

· Local Operator Display option

· Security from unauthorized data retrieval or configuration changes.

Emerson's FloBoss 104 sensing technology achieves superior performance over conventional measurement technology.

· Generates 1,000 pulses / revolution for high-resolution measurement

· Non-contact pulse sensing for outstanding reliability

· Built-in pressure transducers measure upstream pressure and downstream pressure

· Bi-directional pulse detection and diagnostics provide ease of installation, setup, and maintenance

· No gear trains to load down the metering device and cause inaccuracies.

The FloBoss 104 has extremely low power consumption and can "live off" of its built-in rechargeable batteries for extended periods of time. A 2.5-watt solar panel keeps the unit up and running in virtually any climate. A 5-watt solar panel is all that's needed to keep the FloBoss 104 with built-in radio operational in most climates.
