New Multi-Stream Flow Computer Gives High Accuracy Gas Flow Measurement

A new quad-stream gas flow computer, designed to give network managers highly accurate and reliable monitoring of multiple flows, has been introduced by Solartron Mobrey of Houston, Texas.

Solartron Mobrey's new 1540 is ideal for use in fiscal and custody transfer applications. It monitors, routes and reports gas flow volume, energy, mass and rate by time. Simple and cost-effective installation plus high reliability and accuracy make the new flow computer admirably suited for gas flow applications in production, allocation, transportation, distribution and sales metering. It is easily user-configured, displaying forward and reverse volume flows, mass flows and energy values for each stream and for the total station.

The 1540 can be used with a wide range of flowmeters including those with turbine, orifice, ultrasonic, Venturi and V-cone technology. HART and 4-20mA analog, pulsed & -digital Modbus communications ensure compatibility with many different field instruments and gas chromatographs.

The new flow computer is also connected to a variety of other measurement transducers (including gas density, temperature and pressure sensors), which are required to produce gas flow volume, energy, mass reports as well as providing intermediate values such as line and atmospheric pressure, line temperature at the meter run and base densities which can be logged, alarmed and/or used in analysis.
