Flexible Screw Conveyor suits abrasive applications.

Press Release Summary:

Carrying material to max distance of 60 ft, RHINOVEYOR(TM) provides throughput up to 5 tons/hr, depending upon material and angle at which it operates. Conveying tube is one long support, while conveyed product acts as lubricant centralizing rotating spiral within tube. Tubes that run empty do not create wear and noise associated with UHMWPE tubes. Conveyor is suitable for handling sintered metals, PFA, pumice, sand, aggregates, silica, cement, and carborundum.

Spiroflow Systems Announce New RHINOVEYOR(TM) Flexible Screw Conveyors for Very Abrasive Applications

Charlotte, North Carolina--- Spiroflow Systems, Inc. recently introduced the new 'RHINOVEYOR(TM)' range of flexible screw conveyors for abrasive materials.

Manufactured with a tough conveying tube, the 'RHINOVEYOR' product line extends the scope of these versatile conveyors into applications for abrasive materials. Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene (UHMWPE) had traditionally been used for the conveyor tube, but also posed a wear issue when handling moderately abrasive materials.

For infrequent abrasive applications, tubes and screws are easily replaced from time to time as needed.

A key factor to the suitability of flexible screw conveyors for abrasive applications is their simplicity and lack of bearings. The conveying tube is effectively one long support while the conveyed product acts as the lubricant centralizing the rotating spiral within the tube.

Tests have confirmed that Spiroflow's new 'RHINOVEYOR' conveying tubes have a significantly greater life on applications beyond food, dairy and pharmaceutical products. Accordingly, Spiroflow offers a more durable conveyors for the most aggressive products such as sintered metals, PFA, pumice, sand, aggregates, silica, cement and carborundum.

Traditionally it has been recommended that flexible screw conveyors must always run full of material. Running empty can lead to excessive noise and wear. However, the nature of the new 'RHINOVEYOR' conveying tubes means that running empty no longer
creates the wear and noise associated with UHMWPE tubes. However, as flexible spiral conveyors are not totally self-emptying, they ideally suited for transferring material from storage to weigh hoppers or to a process but not for transferring pre-weighed batches of material where total transfer is required.

Flexible screw conveyors can, typically, carry material to a maximum distance of 60 ft, although multiple, linked units can extend to greater distances as required. The maximum throughput for the new 'RHINOVEYOR' range can be has high as 5 tons/hr dependent upon the material and the angle at which it is to operate.

Spiroflow Flexible Screw Conveyors will still be available with UHMWPE conveying tubes for food, pharmaceutical, fine chemicals and other applications. UHMWPE tubes and stainless steel contact parts offer a high level of hygiene for food, dairy and pharmaceutical applications.
