FKI Logistex Wins Parcel Sortation Contract For British Forces Post Office

Major Ministry of Defence project reflects global lead in sortation technology expertise provided by FKI Logistex

As part of the Ministry of Defence(TM) flagship estate consolidation programme for Greater London, known as MOD Estate London Project (MoDEL), FKI Logistex,® has been awarded a major contract by Bovis Lend Lease - the main contractor for the delivery of the new British Forces Post Office (BFPO) facility - to design, manufacture and install a parcel sortation system. This sophisticated sortation unit will use the latest Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology ensuring fast and accurate address identification.
The FKI Logistex solution, selected by Bovis Lend Lease, is based on the company(TM) versatile S-3000CB Cross-Belt Sorter technology. This best in class(TM) system will ensure gentle handling across the wide variety of weights, sizes and shapes of packages and parcels handled by the BFPO, and is used worldwide by the postal industry because of its high levels of reliability and durability, combined with exceptionally low noise levels.
As well as incorporating OCR for addressee recognition, the FKI Logistex system will feature state-of-the-art computer configuration and user friendly(TM) operator interfaces and diagnostics. Basing the system on standard hardware and standard FKI Logistex software modules, the company is able to create a tailor-made solution proven to be highly robust and reliable in operation.

Project MoDEL will bring together a number of operations from MoD sites in Greater London and will relocate these to RAF Northolt to create a flexible, modern, integrated and fit for purpose anchor(TM) site able to support the delivery of a 21st century defence capability.
