Newly expanded mirror line features Protected Silver Coatings
Barrington, N.J. - Edmund Optics (EO), the premier provider of optical components, introduces a newly expanded line of TECHSPEC® First Surface Mirrors, featuring a surface flatness of 4-6 λ, which now includes 26 new models of the protected silver coated mirrors. The coated surface is designed to face the incident light, minimizing energy loss by preventing the light from passing through the glass substrate.
First Surface Mirrors are available in circular, square and rectangular dimensions. The rectangular mirrors are ideally suited for use in applications that require the mirror to be mounted at a 45° angle, in order to create a 90° bend in the light path for a wide variety of precision optics applications.
New Protected Silver Models complement existing enhanced aluminum and protected gold models
TECHSPEC First Surface Mirrors use metal coatings with a protective dielectric overcoat layer to prevent the coating from being damaged from the atmosphere or from cleaning. This increases the durability of the metal coating, provides protection from oxidation, with little impact on the coating performance. Twenty-six new protected silver models provide average reflectance of >98% at 500-800 nm and >98% at 2000-10000 nm. The typical energy density limit is 0.5 J/cm2 at 532 nm & 1064 nm, 10 ns. The protective coating reduces silver's tendency to tarnish for optimal durability and ease of handling. The protected silver coated line complements the exisiting line of enhanced aluminum and protected gold coated mirrors. Enhanced aluminum mirrors use a multi-layer film of dielectrics, which also increases reflectance in the VIS or UV regions. Protected gold coatings provide 96% reflectivity from 750 - 1500 nm for applications requiring high reflectance in the NIR and IR regions.
