Overview
The IBM TotalStorage® SAN16B-2 Express Model (part number 200516B) offers 4 Gbps FC switching capability to small and midrange SAN that are capable of supporting 4 Gbps throughput. These features are designed to support improved performance for storage networking demands with improved affordability, higher throughput, and enhanced port density when compared to prior IBM TotalStorage SAN b-type family products.

The new model is designed to provide:
4 Gbps port-to-port throughput with auto-sensing capability for connecting to existing 1, 2, and future 4 Gbps host servers, storage, and switches

Up to 16 non-blocking ports with full duplex throughput at 1, 2, or 4 Gbps link speeds

Includes eight 4 Gbps shortwave SFP transceivers

High-availability features designed to offer automatic path routing, and many nondisruptive firmware upgrades

Scalable ports on demand in 8-, 12-, or 16-port increments to accommodate a broad range of connectivity solutions in a 1 U form factor for enhanced port density and space utilization
