Overview
A fibre optic transceiver option has been added to the IBM TotalStorage® SAN32B-2 b-type fabric switch. Designed to help increase affordability, the 4 Gbps short wave Small Form Factor Pluggable (SFP) transceiver provides an additional four short wave 4 Gbps SFP transceivers in a conveniently orderable 4-pack. The 4 Gbps SFP transceiver is designed to provide Fibre Channel connections at distances up to 300 meters while using the appropriate 50.0/125 micrometer fiber optic cable, and distances up to 175 meters while using the appropriate 62.5/125 micrometer fiber optic cable.
Key prerequisites
The IBM TotalStorage SAN b-type switch family supports Fibre Channel connectivity for servers and storage.
