Extreme Accuracy and Rigidity: The Haas HRT320FB Face Gear Rotary Table
The advantages of rotary tables are undeniable for machining multiple sides of a single part, or machining many parts on a multi-sided tombstone. Heavy off-center milling and drilling operations, however, may cause a rotary table to rotate slightly, affecting accuracy. To solve this problem, Haas Automation, Inc., introduces the new HRT320FB face gear rotary table, which provides the extreme rigidity and high brake torque necessary to handle even the heaviest cuts.
At the heart of the HRT320FB is a high-precision face gear coupler (Hirth type) that provides both superior indexing accuracy and extreme rigidity. The 12.6" (320 mm) diameter platter can be positioned in 1-degree increments, with an accuracy of ±3 arc-sec and a repeatablility of ±1 arc-sec. Once positioned, the platter offers 3500 ft-lb of brake torque. This extreme rigidity allows for heavy off-center milling, drilling or tapping operations, even in the hardest materials.
A powerful brushless servo motor provides an indexing speed of 80 deg/sec and spindle torque of 500 ft-lb (678 Nm). The T-slot platter has a center height of 9" (228.6 mm) and a large 3.25" (82.6 mm) through-hole. Six radial T-slots allow for easy mounting of fixtures or workpieces, and an optional pneumatic tailstock is available. This heavy-duty rotary table features a platter capacity (workpiece and fixture) up to 500 lb (227 kg) when mounted vertically, and up to 1000 lb (454 kg) when mounted horizontally.
Like all Haas rotary products, the HRT320FB is easy to interface with any CNC machine. The easy-to-use Haas servo control allows integrated control and repeatable multi-step programming for rapid platter rotation in either direction.
