Ethernet Switches suit deterministic systems.

Press Release Summary:

EtherTRAK ET-5RS Real-Time Ring(TM) Switches keep networks up and running using traffic prioritization and real-time fault-tolerant rings. Self-configurable rings provide recovery time of less than 30 mS plus 5 mS per hop, and allow over 50 switches to be connected in ring. Switches offer combinations of copper and fiber ports for connections up to 40 km or more. UL, CSA, and CE certified units have marine and hazardous ratings, as well as MIL-STD-1275 surge protection.

Original Press Release:

Real-Time Ring(TM) Switch Fault-tolerant Ethernet Switches for Deterministic Systems

SIXNET proudly introduces a new break-through product, the ET-5RS EtherTRAK Real-time Ring(tm) switch. This industrial strength Ethernet switch delivers reliability and performance through its ultra-fast, fault-tolerant network redundancy and other features that are essential in critical real-time systems.

The ET-5RS provides all of the capabilities needed to keep networks up and running, through features like traffic prioritization and real-time fault-tolerant rings. Therefore, network utilization is improved, delivery of real-time data is assured, and priority assignments can be set by the user. The Real-time Rings are self-configurable and run without the complex configuration steps required by other alternatives. They provide a recovery time of less than 30 mS plus 5 mS per hop and allow over 50 switches to be connected in a ring. These features are ideal for real-time, deterministic control and distributed systems.

SIXNET switches offer reliability and long-term support with over 1,000,000 hours mean time between failures, a twenty-year support and service policy, free field-installable upgrades, plus more. In addition, the product is UL, CSA, and CE certified, has marine and hazardous ratings, MIL-STD-1275 surge protection and a -40 to 85° C operation temperature range. SIXNET switches have already been proven in many military, outdoor and marine applications.

There are several Real-time Ring(tm) switch models available for all types of needs. They offer different combinations of copper and fiber ports, for connections up to 40 km or more. The switches can be ordered pre-configured for true plug and play operation or field configured with an easy to use software wizard.
