USRobotics adds Four Smart Switches to Courier Business Product Line at CeBit

USRobotics, a Platinum Equity company, announced the addition of four Smart Switches to its Courier Business Product line recently at CeBit 2007. The switches are available with 16, 24, and 48 gigabit Ethernet ports as well as 24 10/100 Ethernet ports with Power over Ethernet (PoE) + 4 gigabit ports.

"Our new Smart Switches are ideal for small- and medium-sized businesses," said Frank Sugino, Senior Product Manager at USRobotics. "Each switch combines Gigabit speed with a level of manageability and simplicity not available in fully-managed switches. They deliver the performance required by advanced users but are designed for easy installation, management and expansion."

The simple Web-based configuration provides support for 802.1Q Tag and Port-based VLAN; 802.1p Quality of Service traffic prioritization; port mirroring as well as specific port configurations. With 16, 24, or 48 auto-sensing 10/100/1000 Ethernet ports, each automatically detects and matches the speed of the connected device. Moreover, auto-switching (Auto-MDI/MDIX) eliminates the need for cross-over cables. All of the switches feature mini-GBIC ports for network expansion via optional transceivers.

The 16 and 24-Port switches support jumbo frames up to 10KB; the 48-Port switch supports jumbo frames up to 9KB.

The 24-Port 10/100 PoE switch conforms to the 802.3af standard and delivers data connectivity and DC power to Ethernet devices in difficult to reach locations. It supports variable power settings up to 15.4W per port with a total power budget of 170W. It also includes four gigabit ports for additional high speed connectivity. Management features on the PoE Smart Switch include support for PoE priority settings so high priority devices such as IP Phones and wireless access points stay powered in case of an unexpected power drain. The PoE Smart Switch also includes both current and circuitry sorting protection.

USRobotics four new smart switches join the networking company's other business class products, including the Professional Access Point (USR5453A), the USR8200 Firewall/VPN/NAS, and the 4-Drive Serial ATA Network Attached Storage (USR8700) appliance. The four new smart switches will be available in Q2 2007 at www.usr.com and from our major distributors (Aptech, Almasa in UAE, ICC & AIM in KSA, and Logicom in Lebanon).
