New Epoxy Adhesive Maintains Peel Strength After Heat Aging and Retains Low Temperature Flexibility


Solarite EA-0504 is a new, advanced technology epoxy structural adhesive from Solar Compounds Corporation, Linden, NJ. The new epoxy maintains high peel and shear strengths even after prolonged exposure at 60°C (140°F), remains flexible at low temperatures and offers better adhesion to dissimilar surfaces compared to currently available materials. EA-0504 cures at room temperature and does not become brittle with heat aging. It is an ideal adhesive for use in applications having a wide range of operating temperatures. EA-0504 is non-abrasive and is suitable for use in automatic dispensing equipment.

This new epoxy offers excellent adhesion to a variety of materials such as; wood, metals including Aluminum, Stainless Steel, Copper, and Brass, and plastics including ABS, polycarbonate and fiberglass. With high impact and vibration resistance, EA-0504 has applications in automotive, aerospace, electrical and OEM applications.

EA-0504 joins the Solar product line of high performance 1 and 2-component room temperature cure and heat cure adhesives which are formulated for manufacturers of products such as; snowboards, skis, striking tools, golf and sports equipment and filters.

EA-0504 requires no special surface preparation procedures. The cured epoxy is tough yet not brittle. It maintains its high shear and peel strengths even at low temperatures.

Electrical characteristics of EA-0504 make it suitable for electrical potting and encapsulating applications. Solar Compounds can formulate the adhesive with a range of thermal conductivity properties for varying heat requirement applications without loss of performance and can even provide a UL-VO version.

To make EA-0504 even more attractive as a general-purpose epoxy adhesive, Solar Compounds can modify such properties as cure time, viscosity and color without any change in product performance.
