New One-Part Epoxies Eliminate Mixing, Offer Unlimited Working Times

DANVERS, MA - New SC 2000 Series single-component epoxies from Devcon bond metal, ceramics, glass, concrete, and other substrates. These heat-cured, self-leveling adhesives require no mixing and offer unlimited working time at room temperature. They are available in four 100% solids formulations to accommodate a variety of OEM applications. In addition to high bond strength, all four adhesives provide excellent thermal stability, corrosion resistance, and gap-filling properties.

SC 2001 produces strong structural bonds on metal, ceramics, glass, and concrete. Its viscosity (250,000 cps at 75° F) and its thermal conductivity make it ideal for potting and encapsulating. In addition to traditional heat curing, this adhesive also may be cured by induction heating (4 sec/500 W). SC 2001 withstands service temperatures from -40° to 300° F.

SC 2002 is a structural adhesive with excellent resistance to cutting oil, motor oil, unleaded gasoline, and potassium hydroxide solutions (to 20%). Although suitable for concrete, wood, and even fabrics, it creates particularly durable bonds on steel (stainless, mild-carbon, galvanized, tin-plated, or unfinished), aluminum, ceramics, and glass. In the assembly of metal filters, SC 2002 is ideal for securing stainless-steel screens to their frames, sealing bottom plates to tapping plates, and potting end caps. It has a viscosity of 65,000 cps at 75° F and withstands service temperatures from -60° to 300° F.

SC 2003 is a more viscous version of SC 2002. Formulated for applications requiring greater sag and run resistance, it has a working viscosity of 240,000 cps, excellent resistance to cutting oil, motor oil, unleaded gasoline, and sodium hydroxide solutions (to 50%), and a service-temperature range of -40° to 300° F.

SC 2004 is an adhesive/sealant with excellent resistance to aluminum sulfate (alum) solutions (to 10%) as well as to cutting oil and unleaded gasoline. Although suitable for joining concrete, wood, ceramics, glass, and even fabrics, it is particularly effective in the assembly of steel or aluminum food-processing equipment. It has a viscosity of 285,000 cps and withstands service temperatures from -60° to 300° F.
