Endevco Receives 2007 "Best of Sensors Expo" Award for Subminiature, High-Shock, SMT Accelerometer

Endevco Corporation, the leader in sensing solutions for demanding vibration, shock and pressure applications, has received a 2007 "Best of Sensors Expo" Bronze Award in the Sensors category for its model 71 subminiature, high-shock, SMT piezoresistive accelerometer.

"Best of Sensors Expo" awards honor the most exciting new products on display at the 2007 Sensors Expo & Conference June 11-13 at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, IL. Entries were judged on the basis of potential impact, application, distinctiveness, timeliness, and availability.

The Endevco model 71 accelerometer was recognized for its innovation as a "tiny high-shock accelerometer micromachined from a single piece of silicon and incorporating both the inertial mass and Wheatstone bridge circuit. Its size and its low mass give the sensor the ability to survive high-frequency shock pulses that can shatter the seismic systems of lower-resonance accelerometers." This rugged, undamped accelerometer is available in 6,000, 20,000 and 60,000g measurement ranges with sensitivities of 30uV/g, 10uV/g and 3uV/g respectively.

"We are very excited about the growing interest and recognition of this truly unique device. The combination of its small size, shock measurement capability and survivability make it the perfect solution for compact shock monitoring systems, impact testing and monitoring of sensitive equipment during transport or deployment," said James Fisher, Endevco director of marketing. "The model 71 is another example of Endevco's reputation for and continued commitment to developing unique, high-performance sensing solutions for challenging applications."

Judges for the "Best of Sensors Expo" Awards were Sensors magazine editorial staff including Executive Editor Melanie Martella, members of the editorial advisory board, and industry experts including Deborah Lickness, Engineer, Advanced Sensors, John Deere; and Ed Ramsden, Product Definer, SSIP/SSC, Maxim Integrated Products.

"The 'Best of Sensors Expo' awards program recognizes the companies that are truly at the forefront of innovation and leadership in the sensors industry," said Martella. "Choosing the winners from the exceptional pool of candidates was very difficult-there are some truly remarkable products out there. I offer hearty congratulations to the winners."
