Rittal Designs Enclosures With Protection Against High Pressure Hosedown

SPRINGFIELD, OH - Rittal Corporation is announcing the introduction of a line of enclosures that has been designed to meet the rigid protective requirements of the IP69K rating. This standard guarantees protection against the ingress of dust and against the harmful effects of high pressure jet steam cleaning. Among the enclosures achieving the IP69K rating are Rittal's new Premium Panel, KL Premium Line and AE line extension to include the new AE IP69K. These enclosure solutions are ideal for industries such as food and beverage, pharmaceutical, car wash, vehicle control boxes and offshore petrochemical where high-pressure washdowns are required and elevated water/solvent temperatures are typical.

Unlike a NEMA Type 4 or 4X test, the IP69K test was designed specifically for rating protection against a high-pressure jet stream (1160 to 1450 psi), high liquid temperature (176ºF) and close nozzle distances (3.9" to 5.9") from the enclosure surface. By contrast, the NEMA Type 4 and 4X tests require washdown protection using a stream of water from a hose with a 1" diameter nozzle delivering 65 gpm from a distance of 10 to 12 ft.

Constructed of Type 304 brushed stainless steel, Rittal's new Premium Panel offers an operator enclosure with or without keyboard housing. The operator interface enclosure is available in a depth of 4.72" or 8.66". For the operator and keyboard combination, the keyboard housing is 2.46" deep. Both Premium Panel versions have been designed to attach directly to Rittal's stainless steel CP pendant arm system.

Rittal's stainless steel CP pendant arm system has also passed the requirements of IP69K testing. The pendant arm is manufactured using Type 304 brushed stainless steel tubing in order to minimize the number of joints or seams. The arm is available in 7 off-the-shelf lengths/shapes and can also be made-to-order for customer application. Numerous enclosure couplings and mounting brackets are available as standard

Rittal's new KL Premium Line enclosures also are designed from Type 304 stainless steel. Offering an off-the-shelf junction box solution, these enclosures are available in four sizes from 6"H x 6"W x 3"D up to 12"H x 16"W x 4"D. They can be mounted directly to a surface using integrated hardware or by using optional mounting brackets. Optional mounting plates and DIN rail mounting are also available.

Newly redesigned to meet the high protection rating of IP69K, Rittal's popular AE Series enclosures are designed with aluminum zinc as a base material followed by polyester powder coat painting. This unique combination of materials provides a high level of corrosion protection and a lower weight when compared to stainless steel. With its vibration resistant locks, hinges, and mounting plate hardware, the AE IP69K is ideal for use as vehicle control boxes. These enclosures are available in four sizes from 13"H x 9"W x 6"D up to 25"H x 25"W x 10"D with a mounting plate included. They can be mounted directly to a surface using integrated hardware or by using optional mounting brackets. Optional depth-adjustable interior doors are also available.
