Original Press Release:

Vishay's New EMI Filter with Integrated ESD Protection Diodes Provides Excellent Protection and Electrical Performance in Small 1.6-mm by 1.6-mm LLP75 Footprint

MALVERN, PENNSYLVANIA - July 23, 2004 - A new ESD protection array that integrates an EMI filter in a leadless LLP75 package optimized for space-critical applications was announced today by Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH).

Measuring just 1.6 mm by 1.6 mm with a 0.7-mm height profile, the new GTF701-HS3-GS08 two-channel EMI filter offers EMI and bi-directional ESD protection in compact end products including mobile phone handsets, laptop computers, PDAs, digital cameras, modems, GPS devices, and two-way pagers.

The new diode array provides transient protection for two data lines, meeting Level 4 IEC 61000-4-2 (ESD) specifications of 15 kV (air) and 8 kV (contact), as well as the IEC 61000-4-5 (lightning) specification of 5 A.

In addition to space-saving dimensions and excellent EMI and ESD protection, the new Vishay Semiconductors device provides very good electrical performance. It features a low insertion loss of -4 dB over a range from 1 MHz to 10 MHz, a low maximum reverse stand-off voltage of 5 V, low reverse leakage current, and low clamping voltage - a maximum of 15 V (5 A, 8/20 µs). Good attenuation of high-frequency signals is ensured with transmission values of -10 dB for signals between 100 MHz and 3000 MHz.

Built on thin-film-on-silicon technology in an LLP75-6A plastic package, this ESD protection array is specified for a UL 94 V-0 molding compound flammability rating, high-temperature soldering up to 260 °C, and an operating temperature range of -40 °C to +125 °C.

The GTF701-HS3-GS08 ESD protection diode array and EMI filter combines cost and space savings with excellent electrical performance, representing a high industry standard and providing a cost-effective solution for high-volume mainstream applications.

Samples and production quantities of this ESD protection array with integrated EMI filter are available now with lead times of eight weeks for larger orders. Pricing for U.S. delivery in 100,000-piece quantities starts at $20.00 per 100 pieces.
