Electrolube's TFA Acrylic Coating Secures UL Approval

Electrolube, the electro-chemicals manufacturer at the forefront of conformal coatings development, has received approval from Underwriters Laboratories (UL) for its TFA, Toluene Free Acrylic conformal coating.

The acrylic coating has secured UL 746E certification for use on recognised printed circuit boards, following stringent testing and safety criteria. Designed to protect PCBs, LEDs, electronic components and printed panels against humidity and environmental attack, the TFA coating is also IPC-CC-830 certified, RoHS compliant and meets the requirements of MIL.

The TFA coating provides a transparent, flexible solution with a wide operating temperature range of -55°C to +125°C and is touch dry in approximately 20 minutes. Once touch dry the coating can be fully dried at room temperature or heat can be used to accelerate the drying process. The acrylic coating is easy to apply, resistant to mould growth and offers an excellent combination of physical and electrical capabilities including excellent adhesion to many substrates.

TFA fluoresces under UV light to aid inspection and offers superior clarity and stability following prolonged Ultraviolet exposure. The coating is available in a 200ml aerosol and 5 litre containers for dipping, brushing or spraying. The cured coating can also be removed with Electrolube Ultrasolve (ULS).

Robert Crosby-Clarke, European Brand Director at Electrolube, says: "Securing UL 746E approval for TFA signifies our commitment to researching and developing high performance conformal coatings products. The certification ensures that TFA is compliant with the de-facto industry standard and we are delighted to present our approved acrylic coating to customers seeking optimum reliability and performance of devices."

Electrolube's UL approved conformal coatings also includes DCA, a modified silicone coating formulated to meet the highest defence standards for protection against harsh environments. Ancillary products to compliment the use of conformal coatings include thinners and strippers, peelable coating mask and thixotropic materials for effective coating of lead ends.

A division of the HK Wentworth Group, Electrolube is an established electro-chemicals manufacturer and provides solutions for customers across its extensive range of contact lubricants, conformal coatings, thermally conductive materials, resins and service and maintenance products.
