Murrelektronik's Metal Distribution Box Withstands Extreme Industrial Environments
DULUTH, GA (May 4, 2004) - Giving industrial control system design engineers a robust option for conveniently connecting sensors and actuators in distributed machine control applications, Murrelektronik has developed a one-piece all metal distribution box specifically designed to withstand harsh environmental conditions. Designated the MVP Metal Series, these shielded distribution boxes provide quick, convenient connections for up to 16 different sensor signals.
The MVP12 Metal Series distribution boxes are fully encapsulated and sealed to IP65 and IP67 standards, giving them superior resistance to vibration, condensation, moisture, oils, coolants, chemicals and cleaning agents found in industrial environments. In addition, the all-metal distribution box provides end-to-end shielding from sensor to control unit for EMC compliance.
The distribution boxes are being specified by industrial system designers who want a faster, more economical connection method (vs. conventional hard-wiring) for multiple sensors and actuators in industrial equipment control systems, such as machine tools and processing centers, sheet-metal fabrication machinery, foundry facilities and cutting & welding machines.
The MVP12 Metal Series are available in shielded or unshielded versions, with either four or eight standard M12 5-pole sockets with optional status indicators (yellow LED) per signal. Each socket is capable of handling two sensor signals for an overall capability to carry up to 16 signals. Control side connection options include pre-wired cable, or a standard M23
19-pole connector designed to accept PUR/TPE-E halogen-free cabling. The MVP12 Metal Series is rated for 125V AC and/or 24V DC; 12A, with optional supply voltage indicator (green LED).
The metal housing consists of a single-piece zinc pressure diecast with nickel plating for durability. Operating temperature range is -25°C to +90°C. Typical pricing for the MVP12 metal Series distribution boxes ranges from $94.00 to $207.00 each.
