Bannockburn, IL Leica Microsystems, a worldwide innovator of high tech precision optical instruments, introduces a revolutionary new line of digital microscopes. The new Leica DM Digital Microscopes use intelligent automation to make advanced imaging techniques easy.

The new DM Digital Microscope series includes the Leica DM4000 M for routine and research applications in materials science.

The Leica DM4000 M is designed to deliver optimized imaging by simply selecting the objective, filter and contrast method. All aspects of the light path are automatically adjusted to the user's preferred settings. The DM4000 M works with the user to simplify advanced microscopy.

Innovations include:
o "Fluorescence Intensity Manager" (FIM), which automatically sets the fluorescence illumination so that the specimen is preserved to the greatest possible extent.
o Complete color balance is assured by Leica's "Constant Color Intensity Control" (CCIC).
o The Illumination Manager automates the time-consuming Kohler illumination adjustment process for the full range of objective magnifications.
o Features new 1.25x "overview" objective for rapid scanning
o Unique "focus finder" provides easy focusing of highly refective, polished surfaces.

Leica offers application-based configurations which integrate the microscope, camera, image database and user software (i.e., for fluorescence applications) to form a complete, application-specific solution.

Ergonomics are another highlight of the new microscope. All of the main control panel functions can be directly and intuitively accessed. With the Ergotube(TM), the user can adjust the view for individual comfort.
