DC Current Sensing Relay Features Non-Hall Effect Technology

CR Magnetics, Inc. has introduced a new series of non Hall Effect Current Sensing Relays specifically designed to monitor DC electrical current. Major applications include sensing motor over/under loads, monitoring battery chargers, and DC load monitoring.

The new CR5395 series of non Hall Effect Current Sensing Relays operate by routing the current carrying wire through the opening extending from the top of the case. When the current reaches the level set by the trip point adjustment, the electromechanical relay is energized. A precision voltage reference circuit ensures a highly repeatable trip point.

The new relay series incorporates uses of electrical current transformers for the monitoring element. The current transformer provides a very high degree of repeatability with minimal thermal drift. Other technologies for monitoring electrical current utilize Hall Effect type sensors. This technology is subject to excessive thermal drift, low accuracy and poor set point repeatability.

An adjustable trip point control is easily accessible from the top of the relay for changing the trip point setting. The unique calibrated dial allows instant viewing of the current trip-point. All relays feature a built in variable time delay which inhibits activation during start-up. This time delay is available in time periods for .5 to 6 seconds.

The new CR Magnetics CR5395 Series of precision Current Sensing Relays is available in ampere trip ranges from 0.1 to 100 AC Amps. The relays can be powered from a 24VDC or 85 to 240 VAC power supply. The unit measures 2.50" deep x 3.50" wide x 2.125" high.
