Original Press Release:

Model 7295 DB25 Crossover Switch Features Both Pushbutton and Contact Closure Remote Control

The new Model 7295 Crossover Switch with Contact Closure is now available from Electro Standards Laboratories, Cranston, RI. This DB25 switch allows two pairs of compatible devices to exchange interconnections by supporting connections between four devices or peripherals connected to ports A, B, C, and D, in two different positions, Normal and Crossover. When in NORMAL position, port A is connected to port C and port B is connected to port D. CROSSOVER position is defined when port A is connected to port D and port B is connected to port C.

The Model 7295 switches all 25 pins of the DB25 interface. The switch is transparent to data speed and format. A single, front panel pushbutton will manually control the switch position between Normal and Crossover. For remote off-site monitoring, front panel pushbutton lockout, and switch position control, contact closure transition signals are used. Switch status is read in response to a 5VDC signal provided on select pins of the same DB9 remote port. The Model 7295 also retains last switch position in the event of a power loss and continues to pass data.

The switch is available with an optional wide range power module making this switch an ideal solution for international switching applications. Catalog No. 517277 is a CE and UL listed table mount unit that supports 100VAC/240VAC, 50Hz/60Hz operation. The standard power modules are ideal for applications requiring 115VAC or 120VAC.
