Groundbreaking Tiny Data Logger Samples Multiple Parameters

02/14/08

Pittsford, NY: MSR145S is a series of new, miniaturized universal dataloggers for measuring and recording several different physical parameters simultaneously. For instance, MSR145S-B51111 contains a built-in temperature sensor, a humidity sensor, a pressure sensor and a 3-axis accelerometer (X, Y and Z axes). Other versions can have fewer sensors, or even two additional 12-bit analog inputs (0 to 2.4 V), enabling other sensors to be attached too (MSRS145-B51112). Housed in a transparent polycarbonate shell, tiny MSR145S is one of the smallest, lightest available data loggers available (52 mm x 20 mm x 16 mm; weight 16gm). Included MSR Software enables users to customize measurement and recording requirements, with resultant data transferred to a PC after data logging is completed or even during the data logging process. A unique feature allows as many units as needed to be deployed, with resulting data synchronized and merged into a single data record.

Parameters capable of being measured with the MSR145S series include: temperature, relative humidity, pressure (e.g. altimeter, water level, barometer), 3-axis acceleration (e.g. determining position). Additionally, an external trigger input allows an external contact closure start, but logging can also be by exception on a per channel basis or at a specific time. With a working range of -10 °C to +65 °C with the internal sensors (-55 °C to +125 °C with optional external sensor), MSR145S loggers have an accuracy of ±0.1 °C (5 °C to 45 °C) ±0.2 °C (-10 °C to +65 °C). Humidity sensing range is: 0-100 % relative humidity, with an accuracy of ±2% (10 -90%RH), while the internal pressure sensor can log 0-2500 mbar absolute (optionally 0-14 000 mbar) with an accuracy of ±2.5 mbar. Acceleration measurement range is selectable (±10 G / ±2 G) with an accuracy of ±0.15 G (25 °C). Optional external sensors (temperature, humidity, pressure) may be used to suit alternative requirements.

MSR Software allows a selectable storage rate for temperature, humidity and pressure from once per second to once every 12 hours, while acceleration and analog inputs can be measured: 50 /s to once every 12 hours. MSR145S's internal memory stores over 2,000,000 measurements. Powered by a rechargeable 170 mAh lithium polymer battery (charged via the USB connection), one battery charge is sufficient for several months' logging at one sample per minute. Status LEDs indicate record/alarm/battery conditions. MSR145S loggers also feature an alarm output.

Applications for Swiss-made MSR145S loggers include, transport, research and development, professional sports, machine engineering, chemical, pharmaceutical and environmental technology, etc. MSR145S loggers were recently used to monitor pilots during the development of a special flight suit for the Eurofighter jet. An alternative silicon-housed waterproof series MSR145W is also available for liquid-based applications such as in medical and food technology.

MSR145S and MSR145W series is available now from stock from Saelig Co. Inc. Pittsford NY, starting from $292. 1-888-7SAELIG, info@saelig.com, www.saelig.com
