Data Collection Terminals are CE approved.

Press Release Summary:

Series ELX data collection terminals may be used over RS232, RS485, and RS485 multidrop links. Front panel design can be changed and keys can be reprogrammed as ASCII characters. Backlit 4 x 20 character display allows usage under any lighting conditions. Terminals include I/O option, with 4 opto-isolated digital inputs that double as 32-bit counters, and 2 relay outputs. Two inputs are non-volatile, so units retain counts during power failures.

Original Press Release:

Customizable Data Collection Terminals

Fairport, New York. The new ELX range of versatile, economical serial-driven data collection terminals is suitable for data collection, operator HMI, machine monitoring, downtime reporting and access control. The ELX series of terminals may be used over RS232, RS485 and RS485 multidrop links. Each CE-approved model is easily customizable - the front panel design can be user-changed, and the keys reprogrammed as ASCII characters.

A clear 4 x 20 character display with jumper-selectable backlight allows usage under any lighting conditions. Every ELX unit has an I/O option, with four opto-isolated digital inputs that double as 32bit counters, and two relay outputs. Two inputs are non-volatile, so ELX units retain counts during power failures. Manufactured in highly durable metal cases, terminals are typically panel mounted, but IP65 wall-mounting is also available.

Some ELX models have the facility for an onboard barcode/swipe reader, offering a one-stop solution. The 25-key tactile, sealed keyboard operates between 0 and 55C. RS485 versions allow multi-dropping to several units. An individual PC may therefore control up to 64 ELX terminals, creating a cost-effective solution for a network of data input terminals - ideal for shop floors. A multidrop system unit (MSU) can additionally be purchased to poll large networks of ELX's and only transfer data to the PC when a remote terminal has data to send. This reduces the overhead on the host PC considerably and minimizes software development time.

ELX terminals are available immediatelyfrom $399 from Saelig Co. Inc. NY 585-425-3753; -3835 fax; info@saelig.com; www.saelig.com.
