E-1616: Ethernet-based Analog and Digital I/O Device Brings Powerful Performance to the Point of Measurement

MIDDLEBORO, Mass.-May 25, 2005-Measurement Computing Corporation today announced the release of its second Measurement Advantage(TM) Ethernet-based DAQ device. The E-1616 is a powerful, general purpose device that offers the functionality and performance of a PCI-based solution: 16 simultaneously sampled 16-bit analog inputs with sample rates up to 50 kS/s per channel with continuous module throughputs of 150 kS/s, and 32 kilosample bursts up to 200 kS/s, along with 8 bits of digital I/O and one 32-bit counter. The advantage of the E-1616, however, is that it can be distributed anywhere there's a network connection and power; simply connect the device to the network at the point of measurement, and configure, monitor, and control the device from anywhere else on the network. The device will be priced at $899 (single piece price). Shipments will begin in early June.

In addition to the performance features described above, the E-1616 offers:
- Integrated screw terminals for easy field wiring
- A robust metal enclosure with a latching lid to protect signal wiring
- A compact form (8.2" x 5.1" x 1.75") that makes it ideal for laboratory, test, and industrial monitoring and control applications
- A DIN rail mount that's fully integral to the enclosure, rather than an add-on kit

The new E-1616 joins the USB-1616FS, Measurement Computing's USB-based device with the same specifications, to increase substantially the flexibility and ease-of-use of data acquisition hardware solutions without sacrificing performance. The Ethernet-based and USB-based products compliment each other: the E-1616 represents the ideal choice for remote DAQ applications requiring measurement and control from another location; the USB-1616FS represents the ideal choice for applications involving measurement and control through a local PC or laptop, and is particularly effective in situations in which mobility and flexibility are important.

All Measurement Advantage products ship with the following free software:
- TracerDAQ(TM), Measurement Computing's powerful stripchart recorder, oscilloscope, and data logger application.
- SoftWIRE®, the popular graphical programming interface for Visual Studio .NET.
- Universal Library(TM), the powerful language interface that allows users to write programs in all of the popular programming languages using easy-to-understand, high-level command syntax.
- UL for LabVIEW(TM), the package of drivers, VIs, and program examples for using MCC hardware in LabVIEW.
- InstaCal(TM), an all-in-one installation, calibration, and test application that simplifies the important initial steps involved in turning a user's PC into a measurement system.
