Crystal Oscillators suit lead-free soldering applications.

Press Release Summary:

Series CFPT-125 consists of 7 x 5 mm, SMD TCVCXOs that withstand peak reflow soldering temperature of 260°C for 10 sec. Standard frequency stability is ±0.9 ppm over temperature range of -20 to +70°C. Crystal resonator within oscillator is packaged in hermetically sealed container, virtually eliminating contamination. Operating from 3.3 V supply, units draw 3 mA and offer frequencies from 10-40.0 MHz. Frequency is adjustable by external control voltage.

Sub-1ppm TCVCXO is Suitable for Lead-free Soldering

C-MAC MicroTechnology has extended its vast range of frequency control products with a range of low-cost, 7x5mm SMD temperature-compensated, voltage-controlled, crystal oscillators (TCVCXO). The CFPT-125 is designed to withstand a peak reflow soldering temperature of 260°C for 10 seconds, making it compatible with lead-free soldering processes.

Durham, NC, January 2004 - C-MAC MicroTechnology, a Solectron company, has extended its vast range of frequency control products with the CFPT-125 series, a range of low-cost 7x5mm SMD temperature-compensated voltage-controlled crystal oscillators (TCVCXO). The CFPT-125 series features a standard frequency stability of ±0.9 ppm over the temperature range of -20°C to +70°C.

The CFPT-125 can be supplied on standard tape and reel for SMT manufacture. It is designed to withstand a peak reflow soldering temperature of 260°C for 10 seconds, making it compatible with lead-free soldering processes. The crystal resonator used within the TCVCXO is packaged in a separate, hermetically sealed, container. This virtually eliminates contamination keeping ageing effects to a minimum.

This customer-driven design provides HCMOS output, operates from a 3.3 V supply and draws typically 3 mA - ideal for low-power applications. The oscillator frequency is adjustable by means of an external control voltage enabling the frequency to be calibrated to nominal after assembly.

Standard frequencies 10, 12.8, 13.0, 14.4, 16.32,16.384, 19.44, 20.0, 26.0, 32.768, 40.0 MHz are available from stock with additional frequencies being developed making them well suited for fast prototyping - leading to potential savings in both design time and cost.

This precision clock source is suitable for a variety of next-generation communication and industrial applications including broadband wireless devices (e.g. Bluetooth®), test and measurement equipment. These applications can be extremely compact due to the CFPT-125 measuring just 7x5x2mm.

The industry-standard ceramic surface mount format makes the CFPT-125 interchangeable with standard (non tri-state) clock oscillators (SPXO) enabling one board layout to be used at various stability levels provided a control voltage is connected to pad 1 (for details see specification).

C-MAC MicroTechnology's frequency control products are available through a dedicated sales network, backed up by over 200 distributors and representatives in 40 countries.

Prices range from $4 to $8 depending on quantity.
