Eching, Germany, November 26, 2008 - Kontron introduces the Kontron CP6001-V, a new 6U value line CompactPCI® CPU board specially designed for cost-sensitive industrial applications.
Equipped with the 1.86 GHz Intel® Celeron® M processor 440, the Intel® 945GM chipset, up to 4 GB 533 MHz DDR2 SO-DIMM and the ICH7-R IO controller hub, the new Kontron CP6001-V CompactPCI® board is optimized to provide the best cost/performance ratio. Due to its industrial components and 4 Gigabit-Ethernet interfaces, the CPU board is designed for demanding, powerful industrial automation and IP switching applications.
The 4HP single-slot, space-saving CompactPCI® board comes with all necessary industry required interfaces such as a serial port, VGA graphics interface, 4 Ethernet ports, 2 front USB ports, PMC, HDD, CompactFlash and USB flash disk support. With an integrated graphics accelerator on the Intel® 945GM chipset, the Kontron CP6001-V provides high resolution graphics up to 2048 x 1536 pixel @75 Hz and 2D/3D multimedia quality video. The Intel® 945GM chipset also enables balanced memory usage between graphics and system for optimized performance (up to 128 MB of dynamic video memory allocation).
With the Intel® ICH7-R I/O Controller Hub the Kontron CP6001-V CompactPCI® board provides advanced I/O technology including USB 2.0 and Serial ATA300. The PMC site, USB Flash, CompactFlash socket and an optional onboard 2.5 inch hard disk can all be used at the same time in a single 4HP slot. Utilizing the modular extensions, all industrial requirements for write-protected operating systems and data storage capabilities are supported.
Two Gigabit Ethernet interfaces available on the front panel operate independently of the additional two PICMG2.16 compliant Ethernet channels, which are routed to the backplane. The highly versatile Kontron CP6001-V CompactPCI® processor board can be used in a system or peripheral slot. A rich set of LEDs is available on the front panel for debugging and diagnostic purposes.
Software support
The Kontron CP6001-V CompactPCI® processor board is provided with a complete and self-installing Board Support Package for Microsoft Windows® XP, Windows® XP Embedded and Linux®. The onboard temperature and voltage sensors can be monitored; the front panel LEDs, hardware watchdog and timer can be triggered to support application specific features.
The right housing
Beginning with the cost-optimized CompactPCI® XL Pocket housing, Kontron offers a broad range of modular standard 1U up to 10U CompactPCI® systems, which can be used with the Kontron CP6001-V CompactPCI® CPU board. Power supplies for AC and DC environments complete the portfolio for all applications.
