Managed Compact Switches Slash Ethernet Connectivity Costs

Harrisburg, Pa. - Phoenix Contact has expanded its Factory Line Ethernet family with a new Managed Compact Switch (MCS) that combines high performance with reduced installed cost required for distributed Ethernet applications. The MCS features 16 10/100 TX ports with a multimode fiber option that meets distributed connection requirements. With a working depth of only 71mm, the MCS can be mounted in enclosures 25% - 35% smaller with installed cost savings of more than 35% when compared to alternative switches in this performance class.

The MCS combines full industrialization with the complete range of message filtering, VLAN, redundancy, and security functions to meet the needs of distributed real-time applications and control protocols such as Profinet, EtherNet/IP and Modbus TCP. Using the same simplified LED diagnostics and "PLC like" web pages as the company's Modular Managed Switch, retraining is eliminated and plant-floor friendly configuration and maintainability is assured. These new industrial switches expand the options of Phoenix Contact's AUTOMATIONWORX modular architecture.

Phoenix Contact Inc. Quality System is registered to ISO 9001: 2000 - Quality Systems Model for Quality Assurance in design, development, production, installation and servicing.
