Chip-Type Double-Layer Capacitor CP3225A, 14mF in 7.2mm exp.3, Equivalent to 4.5microAh

NEU-ISENBURG, Germany, April 30 -- The demand for smaller and thinner portable equipment such as mobile and "Smart" phones remains unbroken and is actually increasing. Consequentially, the components used in such slim devices have to be even smaller and thinner to fit into those still keeping up with reliability and environmental compatibility.

Seiko Instruments Micro Energy therefore offers the new, lead-free Reflow-solderable (260degreesC max), electrical-double-layer-capacitor CP3225A, the smallest and thinnest of its class.

Enclosed in a standard ceramic package with the dimensions 3.2mmx2.5mmx0.9mm, the Capacitor is leak proof, air- and moisture- tight sealed. The minor height of only 0,9mm is emphasized by the soldering leads which are integrated in the packages profile. The Electrolyte based on an organic solvent permits charge voltages to range from 0V up to 2.6V, thus making the usually necessary over-charge- and over-discharge-protection provisions unnecessary. All mentioned parameter enable a 30-fold capacity compared to tantalum capacitors of similar physical size.

Optimized materials permit fast charging to 90% of nominal capacity within one minute. For discharge currents between 1microA up to 100microA more than 90% of the nominal capacity is available to be withdrawn.

The application palette of this versatile capacitor includes mobile telephone, digital camera, MP3-Player, PDA, GPS-System, POS-System and many more.

The most common applications are Backup-power supply, for real-time-clock and memories.
