Geotest Expands Innovative Combo Chassis Family

AUTOTESTCON 2003 - ANAHEIM, Calif. (September 20, 2003) - Geotest-Marvin Test Systems, Inc., a global supplier of electronic test equipment for aerospace, semiconductor, telecom, medical, industrial and military applications, announced the expansion of their unique 3U/6U combination chassis family, the GX7100, with the introduction of the new GX7102 and GX7112.

Geotest was the first to introduce the distinctive 3U/6U PXI combination chassis. Now Geotest launches the newest additions to the series, the GX7102 Master, and GX7112 Slave chassis. With all of the same design features as the rest of the GX7100 series, the GX7102 and GX7112 were designed for ATE systems, and come with a cable tray and mass-interconnect interfacing abilities.

The cable tray allows wiring from PXI instruments to be routed to the rear of the chassis, as well as routing wires from external devices to the front of the PXI chassis. The hinged front door can accommodate any mass interconnect device from companies such as Virginia Panel, MAC Panel, ITT Cannon, and others.

"The GX71x2 chassis were developed to meet the growing need for a PXI chassis that includes an integrated mass interconnect solution," said Lynn Murdock, Geotest's Vice President of Sales & Marketing. "Systems Integrators have been demanding these integrated solutions and Geotest was the first PXI vendor to respond."

The GX7102 and GX7112 are both only 6U in height, and can accommodate up to 14 PXI or cPCI instruments in seven 3U-only slots, and seven 3U/6U slots. The rugged, front-loading Master chassis also includes built-in peripherals (hard disk drive, floppy drive and CD-ROM or CD-RW), and both models are designed with innovative cooling systems.

The GX71xx series are all compact PXI units, capable of handling virtually any ATE, production test, data acquisition, or process control applications.

Availability. Product shipment for the GX7102 and GX7112 began in Sept. 2003.
