Cartesian Motion System suits multi-axis applications.
Press Release Summary:
Cartesian Motion System consists of pre-configured Cartesian Robots in 1, 2, or 3 axes; Compact Modules; and servo drives with power rating of 400 or 750 W. System is suited for payloads up to 25 kg, speeds up to 1.0 m/s, and acceleration rates up to 15 m/s². Depending on axis combination and size, it can execute strokes up to 1,000 mm in X-axis, 700 mm in Y-axis, and 800 mm in Z-axis. Motion provided makes system suited for pick-and-place applications.
Original Press Release:
CMS Cartesian Motion System Simplifies Multi-Axis Applications
Company to display its CMS Cartesian Motion System at the Assembly Technology Expo in the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, IL, Booth #1605 & 1611 September 28 - 30, 2004.
The new CMS Cartesian Motion System from Rexroth cuts specification, design and installation time in pick-and-place and other handling applications.
To help integrators, OEMs and end users reduce the time required to specify, design and install multi-axis systems, Bosch Rexroth has introduced its new Cartesian Motion System (CMS): pre-configured Cartesian Robots in 1, 2, or 3 axes. The new CMS offering uses standard Compact Modules and servo drives from Rexroth, and can be ordered completely pre-assembled or as a ready-to-assemble kit.
Comprising up to three axes, the CMS is designed for payloads up to 25 kg, speeds up to 1.0 m/s, and acceleration rates up to 15 m/s². Depending on the chosen axis combination and size, the motion system can execute strokes up to 1000 mm in the X-axis, 700 mm in the Y-axis, and 800 mm in the Z-axis. The range of motion provided makes the new system ideal for pick-and-place applications in assembly cells and at transfer stations, as well as for packaging and other handling applications.
Rexroth's CMS combines Compact Modules with mounting brackets, servomotors, controllers, cables, cable management and other necessary components to form a complete, ready-to-install handling system with a variety of communication interfaces. The system is pre-parameterized, so it is ready to "plug and play" into the customer's application, resulting in considerable installation and debugging time reductions. To save additional time in the project engineering and design phase, Rexroth also offers a new 3D CAD Generator. The customer simply chooses the desired configuration and the preferred file format, and a link to the 3-D CMS drawing is provided immediately, so the customer can download it at his convenience.
Internal Rexroth Linear Motion Components ensure optimum performance
Compact Modules and their accessories have proven themselves in the field as low-maintenance technology offering excellent performance characteristics. The CKK Compact Modules used in the CMS consist of an extremely compact frame made of precision extruded aluminum with an aluminum cover and a polyurethane-sealing strip to protect the internal components. Two integrated ball rail systems, a high-precision ball screw with large screw diameters and leads, as well as double floating bearings have been tested for long service life and offer the dual benefit of high travel speeds and precision.
Servo drives with a variety of field bus connections
Rexroth ECODRIVE Cs servo drives with a power rating of 400 and/or 750 W drives the Compact Modules. These economical drives will operate from 1 and 3-phase supply networks with an input power of up to 230 V. The maintenance-free, highly dynamic motors are available in two frame sizes. The high power density within a compact envelope - short overall length and minimized motor mount dimensions - is optimally matched to the Rexroth Compact Modules. The high IP65 protection rating allows the motors to be used in widely varying process conditions. Equipped with command communication modules like the SERCOS interface, Profibus DP, CANopen or DeviceNet, the Rexroth controllers integrate easily into different automation concepts. Thanks to their open interfaces and UL certification for the U.S. market, the drives can be used anywhere in the world. Rexroth's global presence guarantees local support for all users.
