Model 7292-XM1 Variable Capacitance Accelerometer Measures Low-Level Accelerations in Aerospace and Automotive Environments

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, Calif. - March 4, 2002 - Endevco's new Model 7292-XM1 utilizes unique variable-capacitance microsensors for the measurement of low-level accelerations in rugged aerospace and automotive environments. Because it can respond to DC accelerations (steady-state events), the accelerometer is ideal for measuring whole-body motion immediately after being subjected to shock motion and in the presence of severe vibration
inputs. Depending upon the particular model (X number), range is 2 to 100 g's full-scale. Higher/special ranges are available. Over-range stops are provided.

The accelerometer is an excellent replacement for the popular 2262 series of piezoresistive models, which are used in many flight-test and automotive applications. The 10-32 mounting
and electrical interface of the 7292-XM1 accelerometer are similar to that of the 2262 series and is compatible with most bridge instrumentation. Shunt calibration simulation is included as part of the unit. Designed to provide years of reliable service, the Model 7292-XM1 is packaged in a ruggedly designed, stainless steel, hermetically sealed case. A 30" shielded
cable is provided.

The 7292-XM1 accelerometer operates from a 10 VDC source and provides a high-level (±2 volt) differential, DC-coupled, low-impedance output. The use of gas damping allows for the near-critically damped characteristics found in the 2262 series of accelerometers without thermally induced changes in frequency response. The 7292-XM1 accelerometer is insensitive to magnetic fields and requires a warm-up time of only one millisecond.
