Toshiba Megapixel Network Camera Sets New Standard in High-Resolution Remote Video

Toshiba IK-WB11A Camera Enables Live Viewing & Broadcast of 1280x960 Video Over the Internet To A Computer or PDA, www.camerawebpage.com Website Service Makes Monitoring & Managing Cameras Easy --

IRVINE, CA - Toshiba continues to break new ground in the wireless networking area with the introduction of its IK-WB11A, a wireless network camera that empowers users to remotely view live, high-resolution (1280 x 960) video streams with audio of homes, day care centers, schools, or businesses from anywhere in the world, via the internet, using a standard web browser.

Versatile, affordable and simple to install for seamless network connectivity, the IK-WB11A is currently shipping with an MSRP of $599 (U.S.). Key features include a 1.4 megapixel progressive scan CCD, an SD card slot, remote Pan and Tilt control, an alarm function, motion detection, and a privacy mask. The camera measures a mere 5.0 x 5.0 x 4.7 inches and can be mounted virtually anywhere.

The introduction of the IK-WB11A is part of an aggressive campaign by Toshiba into the wireless local area network market, an effort that includes the recent launch of the Toshiba Magnia® SG20 wireless server.

BUILT-IN SERVER
The IK-WB11A has its own built-in video server, so there is no need for an on-site PC for operation. Control software (TCP/UDP) and e-mail software are also built-in. Only a power source and an Ethernet network (10/100) connection or a wireless router is required. This all-in-one system architecture permits the IK-WB11A to be used for virtually any monitoring scenario, from a parent viewing a child-care center on a workplace PC, to a builder overseeing a construction project thousands of miles away on a PDA.

Functions such as pan (+60 to -60 degrees), tilt (+5 to -52 degrees), image size, and the recording of video and still pictures can be remotely controlled with the same computer that is being used for viewing. Up to four cameras within the same network can be viewed simultaneously on a single web page. The IK-WB11A can also automatically send an e-mail alert to the user if its built-in motion alarm or another connected device, such as a door opener or fire alarm, is triggered.

Because the IK-WB11A camera is based on a 1.45 megapixel progressive scan CCD sensor rather than a less-reliable CMOS chip, the picture is sharper, more refined and delivers greater color clarity. The camera's flicker-free, super-bright lens maximizes megapixel performance, plus has a versatile focusing range of 31.5 inches to infinity. Frame rate is 7.5 fps for the larger image sizes (1280 x 960, 800 x 600, 640 x 480), and 30 fps for the lower sizes (320 x 240, 160 x 120).

Other advanced camera features include: a waterproof casing for installation outdoors; excellent sensitivity to enable low-light surveillance (minimum luminance of 0.05 lux); ten preset positions for faster set-ups; 3-mode JPEG compression; support for a variety of protocols (TCP/IP, http, SMTP, DNS, DHCP, NTP, ARP. ICMP, syslog); and privacy masking. Accessories include an AC adapter, AC cable, user manual and CD-ROM with camera connecting software.

As part of the introduction, Toshiba has launched www.camerawebpage.com, a website that provides IK-WB11A camera buyers with a free 90-day trial homepage displaying their camera, statistics and an optional profile. With camerawebpage.com, the user's web site is built for them, enabling the addition of features such as live chat, guest books, counter, calendar, photo-alum, blog, buddy lists, and web page skins.

Premium solutions are also available at www.camerawebpage.com for small businesses and e-commerce, including security and the processing of credit card billing.

The IK-WB11A and www.camerawebpage.com are perfect solutions for users who have outgrown low-quality, low-resolution web cameras.
