IBM 7311 Model D11 I/O Drawer Delivers Modular I/O Expansion
Overview
The IBM 7311 Model D11 I/O Drawer is a rack-mountable expansion cabinet that can be attached to an IBM eServer® p5 570 system. The D11 drawer is for customers who need more than 24 I/O slots for their p5-570 system. Each model D11 drawer gives you six full-length adapter slots. Up to 20 model D11 drawers are supported by the model 570, with connections provided by remote I/O adapters and cables.
Model D11 requires 4 U of vertical space in a 19-inch rack, such as the IBM 7014-T00 or 7014-T42; two D11 drawers can fit side by side within the enclosure (rack-mounting hardware provided).
Model D11 offers a modular growth path for p5-570 systems with increasing I/O requirements. When a p5-570 is fully configured with 20 attached model D11 drawers, the combined system supports up to 143 PCI adapters.
The model D11 package contains:
· A 4 U rack-mount enclosure that can hold one or two D10 or D11 drawers
· Six 64-bit, 3.3-V, hot-plug PCI-X slots, using enhanced Type II blind swap cassettes
· Redundant hot-plug power and cooling
· A two-port RIO-2 remote I/O adapter and cables for attachment to a p5-570 system
Model D11 is designed for use in an IBM 7014 rack. Additional space in the 7014 rack can be used for various storage and communications subsystems.
