Biosystems Introduces Fully Automated Bump Test and Calibration Station for ToxiPRO(TM) and ToxiLTD(TM) Personal Gas Detectors

-- Low-cost IQ Express automates critical single-sensor gas monitor testing

-- Performs up to eight procedures, including record keeping, in less than 20 seconds

Smithfield, RI -- Biosystems' new IQ Express bump test and calibration station for the ToxiPRO(tm) and ToxiLTD(tm) personal gas detectors automatically performs up to eight critical tests, including gas sensor identification, instrument performance, calibration and record keeping procedures in under 20 seconds. The system improves safety compliance over manual bump testing and record keeping, and offers an economical alternative to other test stations.

"IQ Express dramatically improves compliance record keeping efficiency and accuracy. You just put the gas detector in the dock and the IQ Express Station does the rest," said Bill Sawka, Marketing Manager at Biosystems. "All tests are performed and recorded in just 20 seconds, and a complete historical record of testing and maintenance is retained in the system's onboard memory. There is nothing else like this in the industry."

The IQ Express Station automatically performs eight procedures, including: instrument identification, battery test, audible alarm test, visual alarm test, vibrating alarm test (if applicable), fresh air calibration, bump test, and record keeping. If the bump test fails, the IQ Express will automatically proceed to complete a full calibration without intervention from the user. In this case, total processing time is under a minute, including testing.

IQ Express is extremely cost-effective. It requires no testing or clerical skills and minimal effort by the user. Workers can check their ToxiPRO or ToxiLTD and get to their jobs with minimal interruptions. Up to four instruments can be tested simultaneously on IQ Express docks connected to the same gas supply. The units are designed to conserve the expensive calibration gas by using only the exact amount needed from the cylinder during testing.

IQ Express can connect via USB for PC control. Additional features available with this option are event logger download and data logger download (if applicable.) Later in the year, Ethernet capabilities will make it possible for a single computer to control multiple remote IQ Express Stations on the same network.

"The IQ Express Station is a perfect complement to our new full-featured and disposable personal detection products, which provide users with superior detection along with low ownership costs," Sawka said.

The new ToxiPRO family of reusable single-sensor personal gas detectors from Biosystems offers an economical, compact and rugged alternative for detecting H2S, CO, O2 and many other gases. The ToxiPRO comes standard with a black box recorder and is available with an optional datalogger. ToxiLTD personal gas detectors are disposable units that will continuously monitor for toxic gases in the environment for a full 24 months after activation. They can detect CO, H2S, or O2, depending on the sensor installed. Both products use both visual and audible alarms to alert users to the presence of these gases. The units are classified for UL and cUL intrinsic safety certifications, and for use in Hazardous Locations Class I, Division 1, Groups A-D, where applicable. Global safety certifications are currently pending.
