New Starrett Band Saw Blades Offer High Performance Production Cutting and Longer Life

ATHOL, MASSACHUSETTS (August 15, 2004) - The L. S. Starrett Company has announced today a new line of production cutting bi-metal band saw blades called Gladiator(TM) that provide increased sawing performance for cost effective cutting in a wide range of applications.

Gladiator Blades feature bi-metal construction with fatigue-resistant alloy steel backing for higher wear and heat resistance. With a new tooth design that includes triple-tempered M42 high-speed steel teeth with 8% cobalt (RC 67-69) at up to a 12-degree rake angle, Gladiator delivers easy penetration, excellent chip clearance, improved surface finishes and faster, straighter cuts.

Gladiator is ideal for high production cutting in a full range of steels - from mild to stainless, up to 42 HRC - as well as for nickel-based and non-ferrous alloys. Gladiator Blades cut a variety of shapes, solids and tubing. Blades come in seven different widths and thickness, from 3/4" x .035" to 3-1/8" x .063".

The company claims that after repeated tests, Gladiator cut faster and blade life was proven to be significantly longer than the competition. Starrett further states that Gladiator blades saw at reduced noise levels when compared to competitive products.

For large, solid sections of exotic and nickel-based alloys and high hardness steels, Starrett is also offering "Gladiator Pulsator". Gladiator Pulsator's specially designed tooth edge allows the teeth to cut in an aggressive, surging cutting action, providing maximum blade performance. Pulsator comes in six different widths and thickness, from 1" x .035" to 3-1/8" to .063".

In addition to being the world's pre-eminent manufacturer of precision measuring tools and equipment, Starrett is also a worldwide leader in the design and manufacture of band saw blades, hacksaw blades, hole saws, jig/reciprocating blades and specialty saw products. Blades are manufactured in Mt. Airy, NC, USA; Jedburgh, Scotland; and Itu, Brazil. For more information on Gladiator Saw Blades, contact the L.S.
