BaF2 Windows provide high transmission without AR coatings.
Press Release Summary:
Suited for such applications as IR spectroscopy, TECHSPEC Barium Fluoride (BaF2) Windows offer wide broadband transmission extending from deep UV to LWIR (200 nm to 14 μm). Barium Fluoride's 1.48 index of refraction promotes transmission without requiring anti-reflection (AR) coatings. Supporting use up to 800°C in dry environments, 5–50 mm dia windows are made from optical fluoride resistant to high energy radiation and have 82 Knoop hardness.

TECHSPEC Barium Fluoride (BaF2) Windows Provide High Transmission without AR Coatings
Excellent transmission from 200 nm to 14 μm
Barrington, N.J. – Edmund OpticsÈY (EO), the premier provider of optical components, introduces its new TECHSPEC Barium Fluoride (BaF2) Windows. These windows are ideal for use in a wide variety of applications, including infrared (IR) spectroscopy, as they offer wide broadband transmission extending from the deep ultraviolet (UV) to the long-wave IR.
Resistant to High-Energy Radiation
With excellent transmission from 200 nm to 14 μm, TECHSPEC Barium Fluoride (BaF2) Windows take advantage of Barium Fluoride's low index of refraction (1.48), which provides high transmission without the need for anti-reflection (AR) coatings. The windows can be used at temperatures up to 800°C in a dry environment. TECHSPEC Barium Fluoride (BaF2) Windows are made from the most resistant optical fluoride to high energy radiation and feature a Knoop hardness of 82.
BaF2 detects high energy particles
Barium Fluoride is a very fast scintillator for the detection of X-rays, gamma rays, and other high energy particles, such as 511 keV gamma photons in Positron Emission Tomography (PET). It is also used to detect high-energy (10-150 MeV) neutrons and separate them from simultaneously occurring gamma photons using pulse shape discrimination techniques.
Four models available with diameters from 5 mm-50 mm
TECHSPEC Barium Fluoride (BaF2) Windows are available in four models with diameters from 5 mm to 50 mm. They are in-stock and available for immediate delivery for fast turnaround and excellent value.
