Original Press Release:

Systron Donner Automotive Introduces High Performance MicroGyro®

Phenomenally-Low Bias Rates Ideal for Demanding Safety Applications

CONCORD, Calif. - Systron Donner Automotive, a business unit of Custom Sensors & Technologies (CST) revolutionizes the sensor industry once again with the introduction of its High Performance MicroGyro®. This new angular-rate sensor takes precision to a new level, boasting an astonishing total offset error of ±1.0 deg/sec; that's triple the bias accuracy of the original MicroGyro®. This new degree of performance makes the High Performance MicroGyro® the ideal choice for ultra-demanding safety applications such as active-steering and land-keeping.

The High Performance MicroGyro® is fully self-contained. It includes the unique Systron Donner automotive double-ended quartz MEMS tuning fork sensor element, as well as a custom-calibrated ASIC, all inside a rugged housing the size of a small coin. Like the original MicroGyro®, the new High Performance MicroGyro® offers unique features, such as fully-compensated SPI digital output, and patented Continuous Built-In Test(TM) (CBIT(TM)) technology, which monitors the sensor's performance 100 percent of the time.

Unlike sensors from other manufacturers, only Systron Donner Automotive MicroGyros® are able to withstand the punishing heat of underhood installations, up to 125°C. This eliminates the need for costly and trouble-prone cable runs to the passenger compartment, just as the factory-calibrated output eliminates the need for the customer to create hardware- and software-based compensation schemes.

The High Performance MicroGyro's® specifications clearly illustrate its advantages:

Offset error due to temperature: ±0.5 deg/sec

Scale factor error: ±2%

Total offset error (all effects): ±1.0 deg/sec

Exceptionally low G-sensitivity

All specifications guaranteed
