SCHURTER Demonstrates Sustainable Innovation in 2022 Sustainability Report
Santa Rosa, California, October 10, 2023 – In times of climate change, there is an increasing awareness about the topic of sustainability, but little will be achieved without action. SCHURTER has released its 2022 Sustainability Report, exemplifying strong initiatives towards a more sustainable future, and showcasing the company’s significant progress in achieving its goals set for 2036.
Most notably, SCHURTER recently announced the release of its new Green Line of Products: the world’s first IEC appliance connectors made of biobased plastic. The Green Line is part of the company’s sustainability strategy. SCHURTER's mission is to deliver high-quality products with significantly lower CO₂ emissions, emphasizing its corporate goal to reduce the CO₂ footprint of its product portfolio by 50% by 2035. The commitment of SCHURTER’s headquarters in Lucerne, Switzerland, is evidenced by a recent award the company received from EcoVadis, an independent auditing firm that helps companies to evaluate and continuously improve their sustainability performance. SCHURTER received the silver medal in its first attempt.
Based on global and national sustainability practices, industry associations, and experts, to proactively seek out opportunities to reduce ecological footprint in activities and products on a preventative and continuous basis, SCHURTER has set corporate targets for the areas of environment, society, and corporate governance. Progress is reviewed annually, and the list of targets is expanded upon when important topics are identified and need to be addressed. SCHURTER assumes corporate responsibility in all its activities and decisions, supporting scientific findings that lead to reduced environmental impact and protecting human health.
