Rogers High Performance Foams Division to Highlight New Silicone Acoustic Barrier Product at the 2010 Aircraft Interiors Expo Americas

Wednesday, September 01, 2010 - Carol Stream, Illinois - Rogers Corporation's High Performance Foams Division will be exhibiting its new BISCO® A2 Sound Barrier silicone material at the upcoming Aircraft Interiors Expo Americas, in Long Beach, CA, September 14-16, 2010, Rogers booth # 958.

The new BISCO A2 Sound Barrier has been designed to meet challenging aircraft standards for flammability, smoke density and toxicity (FST), and is already approved to the Airbus ABS5708 material specification. BISCO A2 is used to block the transmission of sound and demonstrates excellent performance in low frequency noise reduction.

Rogers BISCO A2 meets FAR25.856(a) over a range of thicknesses and exhibits excellent low frequency acoustic properties to prevent sound penetration into the aircraft cabin.

Innovative filter technology allows the A2 material to pass the aircraft radiant panel flame test - FAR25.856(a) - from aerial densities of 1.0 kg/m² to 8.2 kg/m² (0.20 lbs/ft² to 1.68 lbs/ft²).

Also appropriate for use in railcars, BISCO A2 is an extremely safe choice for acoustic insulation applications where extreme flame resistance is required.

BISCO A2 is available in a light gray color in a standard width of 1000mm in roll lengths of 5m and 10m. Samples are available upon request.

The Rogers High Performance Foams facility in Carol Stream, IL is AS9100 QMS Standard and a Boeing Performance Excellence Award recipient. The location in Bremen, Germany also manufactures a range of aircraft approved silicone materials. The Bremen facility is a Bureau Veritas certified facility.

Rogers offers a unique portfolio of durable, fire-safe BISCO Silicones materials to meet the high reliability and performance requirements critical for passenger comfort and safety in aircraft interiors. Rogers partners with aircraft designers and tier suppliers to manufacture FAR- approved, high temperature cellular, solid and specialty material solutions for vibration isolation, noise barriers, gap filling, seating and gasketing. BISCO silicones provide reliable performance for applications in aircraft galleys, lavatories, bulkheads, cargo liners, overhead bins and for thermal/acoustic insulation.
