CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa., - Papers are invited for a symposium on "Viscosity and Rheology of In-Service Fluids as They Pertain to Condition Monitoring" sponsored by ASTM International Committee D02 on Petroleum Products and Lubricants. The symposium will be held June 27, 2012, at the Hilton San Francisco in San Francisco, Calif., in conjunction with the June standards development meetings of Committee D02. The general objective of the symposium is to hold a technical forum for presentations and discussions related to current research and practices relating to viscosity/rheology of in-service fluids as it pertains to condition monitoring and the impact of ASTM standards on condition monitoring and associated businesses. The forum will also provide future direction and suggest new standards for CS96 to investigate. Papers are sought on the following topics: high temperature, low temperature, in-line sensors, dynamic viscosity, grease measurements, grease compatibility, oxidation and rheology. Interested participants must submit a 300-500 word abstract by June 27, 2011. The abstract must include a clear definition of the objective and approach of the work discussed, pointing out material that is new, and present sufficient details regarding results. The presentation and manuscript must not be of a commercial nature nor can it have been previously published. Symposium chairman Amy Fentress will notify you via postal mail by Aug. 26, 2011, of your paper's acceptability for presentation at the symposium. Symposium presenters are required to submit their papers to the Journal of ASTM International (JAI).
