Nexidia Launches New Business Unit to Expand Into Rich Media Search

Former Good Technology and Yahoo! Executive, Drew Lanham, Joins Nexidia as Senior Vice President, Media to Lead New Market Development Initiatives

ATLANTA, Nov. 21 - Nexidia, the leading provider of audio search and speech analytics solutions, announced today the formation of a media business unit in order to address audio-video search and content management using Nexidia's core phonetic search technology. Currently, Nexidia's technology is widely used to enable both government and commercial enterprises to leverage untapped information previously locked away in audio files. The addition of the media business unit further extends Nexidia's market reach and responds to growing market demands.

The growth in rich media content has created a market need to go beyond traditional metadata approaches and unlock the rich information contained in audio and video in order to easily index, search and access this content. Media providers are faced with vast and ever increasing volumes of data and growing demand from consumers to make this media accessible. Companies in industries such as media, publishing, broadband and telecom recognize that this demand is creating the need for new products and services. Nexidia's phonetic audio-search enables these organizations to address this need and deliver competitive products to their customers.

Nexidia also announced that former Good Technology and Yahoo! Executive, Drew Lanham, has joined the Nexidia Executive team as Senior Vice President, Media to lead and manage Nexidia's media business unit.

Lanham most recently held the position of Vice President, Business Development at Good Technology, Inc where he was responsible for forming and managing global partnerships with wireless carriers, handheld manufacturers and Independent Software Vendors (ISVs). Prior to Good Technology, Lanham was Vice President and General Manager, Access - Yahoo! Inc where he established and managed the Access business unit focused on broadband and narrowband access. Lanham also held the position of VP Business Development at Yahoo! where he was responsible for developing, negotiating and managing global alliances.

"With decreased barriers to digital media creation and distribution, exponential growth in usage is hampered only by content discovery. From entertainment to the enterprise, all content creators face this challenge," said Lanham. "Nexidia addresses this problem by providing a solution to accurately index, search and access the content contained within massive libraries of rich media to enable richer user discovery and interaction. Nexidia's proven technology is a fundamentally different approach which positions us as the only audio-video search provider who can answer the market demand for a highly scalable and accurate solution."

"Today we are seeing significant demand for our phonetic audio-video search capabilities in the broad media market, everything from Internet based audio and video content such as Podcasts and broadcast news video to large repositories of enterprise created content across industries such as financial services, legal, insurance and healthcare," said John Willcutts, president and CEO of Nexidia. "With Drew's leadership, experience and proven track record behind the launch of Nexidia's new media business unit, we are positioned to arm premium media outlets with technology that will increase the value of their content by making it more accessible to users."
