New Hammer Drill from Metabo Boasts Stronger Motor for Heavy Duty Drilling Applications
Press release date: October 18, 2006
WEST CHESTER, Pa., October 2006 -- Metabo Corporation, a leading international manufacturer of professional grade portable electric power tools and abrasives for industrial, construction and welding applications, now offers a 1/2" hammer drill with a stronger, more durable motor.
With a maximum tightening torque of 159 inch lbs, the SBE 750 is useful for drilling holes in concrete block, brick, and solid concrete for anchors. The 6.2-amp hammer drill is also ideal for other heavy duty applications, including driving concrete screws, drilling into steel and wood, drilling electrical and plumbing through holes and pilot holes for concrete screws, and driving self-tapping screws into metal and wood. Its capacity is 3/4" in concrete, 1/2" in mild steel and 1-1/2" in softwood.
The new SBE 750 features a long lasting motor with an epoxy resin-coated field coil, which helps prevent overheating under heavy loads. Its winding protection grid deflects airborne debris away from the armature windings and increases the motor's life up to five times that of tools without such protection. In addition, Metabo's new hammer drill is equipped with a "goose neck" depth gauge that provides maximum drilling depth accuracy by enabling the gauge tip to be positioned extremely close to the drill bit. The SBE 750's variospeed full-wave electronic speed control allows for infinite speed variations from 0 to the tool's full-rated RPM.
Metabo has incorporated many safety features into the SBE 750, including its proprietary S-automatic safety clutch, which helps to limit kick-back in the event of a bit jam, and double insulation to significantly reduce the chance of electric shock. The hammer drill's side handle can be rotated 360° and is ergonomically designed to counteract the torque of the tool when drilling into hard materials, giving the operator greater control of the tool to drill straighter, rounder holes.
With an input rating of 750 watts, the hammer drill offers two speed ranges; a no-load speed of 0-1,000 RPM or 0-3,000 RPM and 0-57,000 no-load blows per minute. The SBE 750 is 13 3/8" long, weighs only 6.6 lbs. and comes with a 1/2" chuck and carrying case.
