Edmund Optics Expands Retroreflector Line

March 18, 2008, Barrington, NJ. Edmund Optics® presents a new line of UV Fused Silica Corner Cube Retroreflectors. These prisms are designed to aid precision alignment: when a laser beam hits the corner cube, it reflects back in the direction that it came - no matter what angle it arrived at. Applications include long path length metrology, remote sensing, and velocimetry.

The fused silica corner cubes offer excellent transmission in the UV, visible, and near-IR, and are made from a material with a coefficient of thermal expansion of only 0.5mm/°C, which means that temperature variations have little impact on their operation.

The corner cubes are available in four sizes ranging from 7.16-mm to slightly more than 50 mm in diameter, with the larger sizes offering 3 arcsec beam deviation. All four sizes are offered with or without an aluminum coating to enhance overall efficiency.
