Research Inc.'s Infrared Strip Heaters Provide Innovative Solutions to Your Heating Process Problems

February 1, 2004, Eden Prairie, MN - Research Inc., an industry leader in the design, development and manufacture of electric infrared heating components and integrated heating systems, presents the StripIR® series. Strip heaters use parabolic reflectors to apply heat to narrow strips. Typical applications for the StripIR are drying paint, curing adhesive, drying ink, forming plastic, stress relieving metal, and heating shrink tubing.

The configuration and infrared energy of the StripIR heaters are adjustable to meet specific heating needs. The modular design of the StripIR heaters allow the units to be installed in a variety of configurations suitable for many applications. The infrared
energy emitted from the heaters can be adjusted to match the heating requirements of many heating applications. Research Inc. manufactures a complete line of SCR power control instrumentation to control the operation of the heater.

Research Inc.'s StripIR heaters are rapid response products. The lamps heat up and cool down instantly in response to power control signals. They reach 90 percent of full operating temperature within three seconds of a cold start. The radiant energy dissipates to ten percent, five seconds after the power supply is disconnected.

The StripIR Series includes the Model 4184 and the Model 5305. The Model 4184 uses T-3 style halogen lamps backed by a ceramic reflector to provide heat. It is available in a variety of heated lengths to accommodate different heating requirements. A strip 1.7 inches in width and length from 5 to 38 inches (43 by 965 mm) can be heated up to 1300°F (704°C) with a single Model 4184. Different heated areas can be created by mounting two or more heaters collectively.

The Model 5305 heater uses a tubular quartz T-3 style halogen lamp backed by an aluminum reflector to provide heat. It is also available in a variety of lengths to accommodate specific needs. A water-cooling system prevents the reflector from overheating and allows for continuous operation. This unit can heat strips up to 1.5 by 38.0 inches (96.5cm) (and reach temperatures in excess of 2000°F (1093°C). An optional quartz window is available for installation on the front of the heater module. This window prevents contaminants from reaching the heater reflector.

The StripIR is now available worldwide through Research Inc.'s worldwide extensive distribution network. Sales inquiries should be directed to Carrie Feldman, Research Inc., 7128 Shady Oak Road, Eden Prairie, MN 55344. (952) 941-3300

Research Inc.'s products are designed to solve a wide variety of process problems involving heating, curing, drying, soldering, bonding, and annealing of many different materials. Whether it's one of our standard products or a custom heating system, we are committed to providing solutions to meet our customer's most demanding healing needs.
