Specified for operation from 2.5–5.5 V with transmission range up to 45 m, receivers are available for carrier frequencies from 30–56 kHz and offer low 0.35 mA supply current at 3.3 V. Applications include set-top boxes, TVs, audio systems, and digital cameras.

Vishay Intertechnology Releases New Miniature IR Receivers for Remote Control Applications in Consumer Products


Offered in Five AGC Versions, SMD Devices Feature Minimum Irradiance of 0.12 mW/m for 20 % Improvement in Sensitivity

MALVERN, Pa.– Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) today announced that it is upgrading the capabilities of its popular TSOP36... series of miniature surface-mount IR receivers for infrared (IR) remote control applications in consumer products. With a minimum irradiance of 0.12 mW/m, the TSOP36... series now offers a 20 % improvement in sensitivity over previous generation devices and incorporates an improved optical filter against IR 3D TV signals and other noise.

The devices released today, which feature a new-generation integrated circuit, are offered in five automatic gain control (AGC) versions for short and long burst codes. The TSOP361.. and TSOP362.. provide legacy compatibility with all common IR remote control data formats. The TSOP363.. and TSOP364.. are recommended for all remote control applications and suppress spurious pulses from energy-saving lamps and dimmed LCD backlighting, while the TSOP365.. is capable of suppressing even extreme levels of optical noise.

With an improved resistance to ESD and metal shielding against EMI, TSOP36... series IR receivers are optimized for consumer products such as set-top boxes, TVs, audio systems, and digital cameras. To simplify designs, the devices offer a photo detector and preamplifier circuit mounted within a 4-pin epoxy package. Available with taping for top- or side-view use, the devices are insensitive to supply voltage and ripple noise.

The IR receivers are specified for operation from 2.5 V to 5.5 V with a transmission range up to 45 meters, are available for carrier frequencies from 30 kHz to 56 kHz, and offer a low 0.35 mA supply current at 3.3 V. The devices are RoHS-compliant and conform to Vishay "Green" standards.
