Eaton Launches Enhanced Mill-Duty Cylinder Product Line

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. ... Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation today announced the release of an advanced line of imperial mill-duty hydraulic and pneumatic cylinders designed specifically for tough primary-metals environments.

Based on a unique design with stronger materials, the mill-duty cylinders feature a threaded flange for ultimate durability and serviceability. They are offered in the Vickers(TM) AM/MM/WM Series and Hydro-Line® AM/MM/SM Series products. The mill-duty cylinders surpass many competitors' offerings, with standard bore sizes from two to 16 inches, hydraulic operating pressures of 2,000 and 3,000 pounds per square inch (psi), and pneumatic operating pressure of 250 psi.

This advanced cylinder line provides robust flanges threaded to the body tube increasing durability and endurance when compared to ISO 6022 cylinders. Further improvements include stronger and thicker product material that yields higher bending stress capacity and durability, as well as quicker manufacturing lead-times.

Eaton's mill-duty cylinders have standard stroke lengths up to eight feet for various primary metals applications including furnaces, casters, smelters, rolling mills and stackers/reclaimers. They are also suited for offshore, marine and metal-forming industries in which non tie-rod cylinder designs are most desirable for trouble-free, safe servicing. Custom versions are available with significantly larger bore sizes, longer stroke lengths and higher operating pressures.

The product line offers a comprehensive set of best-in-class features and a broad range of standard components. In addition, Eaton streamlined the design and drawing processes to enable faster delivery service to customers from the company's cylinder manufacturing facility in Decatur, Ala.
