Versatile, 2-Wire Continuous Level Measurement System Approved Worldwide in Intrinsically Safe and Explosion Proof Installations

HORSHAM, PA - AMETEK Drexelbrook, the leader in level measurement technology, has launched the Universal IV(TM), its fourth generation Radio Frequency (RF) Admittance/Capacitance continuous level measurement transmitter. The highly versatile Universal IV offers a wide range of features and options and is ideally suited for the most common to the most challenging level measurement applications.

The Universal IV offers worldwide approval, including FM, FMc, ATEX, IECEx and CE Mark. It is intrinsically safe, explosion proof and flameproof for Class 1 Div 1 Zone 0 hazardous locations. It features stable, repeatable and accurate measurement within 0.25% of range and a user friendly push-button LCD display for configuration and monitoring.

The 2-wire, 4-20mA loop transmitter features the widely accepted digital HART protocol as well as Drexelbrook's proven Cote-Shield(TM) technology that ignores coating buildup on the probe. The Universal IV(TM) is immune to vapor, dust and foam interference as well as tank obstructions such as nozzles, ladders, pipes and agitators.

The Universal IV Series has the broadest range of probes in the industry. More than 125 probes can be selected as a standard option, and many special probes can be customized upon request. In addition, Drexelbrook's high-quality bonded probe construction ensures maximum measurement reliability.

The instrument can be used in process temperatures ranging from cryogenic to 1000oF (537oC) and process pressures from full vacuum to 10,000PSI (690BAR). The system is available with an array of process connections, including NPT, BSP, flange (ANSI, DIN), Tri clamp, Grayloc and more.

The Universal IV Series is backward compatible with Drexelbrook's industry-standard Universal(TM)III, Universal(TM) Lite, Universal(TM) II and RCT(TM) systems. Existing systems can be upgraded to the Universal IV by simply removing the old housing and mounting the new Universal IV housing on the existing probe.

The Universal IV is simple to install and easy to use. The instrument requires no maintenance and has no moving parts to wear out. The electronics unit can be mounted on the probe or, in the case of harsh environmental conditions, can be installed remotely away from the probe and/or the vessel.

The Universal IV Pro(TM) Model offers the greatest versatility and the broadest range of capabilities including Cote-Shield(TM). It can handle measurement spans from 1" to 800 ft and is compatible with a wide array of applications and media, including total level, interface, conductive, insulating, and heavy or light coating.

The Universal IV Lite(TM) Model is ideal for less demanding applications with non-coating conductive liquids with span lengths typically less than 20 ft.
