December 12, 2008 - Featuring 1 nm bandwidth and greater than 50% transmission, Narrow Laser Line Interference Filters are available for 488-1,064 nm wavelengths. Use in sensor path of laser-based analytical instrumentation enhances SNR by eliminating ambient light (noise). Suited for NIR laser diodes, Broadband Diode Interference Filters are used in laser path to eliminate noise in laser diode itself. They provide greater than 70% transmission and are available for 880-1,550 nm wavelengths.

Edmund Optics® Introduces Industry-Leading Interference Filters

Broadband Diode and Narrow Laser Line Interference Filters provide excellent performance and value

December 3, 2008, Barrington, NJ. Barrington, N.J. Edmund Optics® (EO), the preferred supplier of optical components, introduces Narrow Laser Line Interference Filters and Broadband Diode Interference Filters.

Narrow laser line interference filters have an industry-leading 1 nm bandwidth
Edmund Optics' Narrow Laser Line Interference Filters feature a bandwidth of just 1 nm - the narrowest bandwidth available in the industry! The filters are an excellent choice for systems that require an extremely narrow bandpass. They are typically used to enhance the signal-to-noise ratio of laser-based analytical instrumentation. Primarily utilized with gas and DPSS lasers, narrow band (1 nm) filters are used in the sensor path to eliminate all ambient light (noise) and allow the sensor to detect the laser wavelength. Using a narrowband interference filter, a system may not require dispersion elements such as prisms or gratings, allowing a lower cost than other alternatives. The filters provide transmissions of greater than 50% and OD greater than 4 from 200-1150 nm wavelength. Each narrow bandwidth filter is mounted in a 12.7 mm or 24.5 mm diameter metal ring and is designed for ease of integration using EO's C-mount optic mounts. Narrow Laser Line Interference Filters are available for 488 nm, 514.5 nm, 532 nm, 632.8 nm and 1064 nm wavelengths. They are in-stock and ready for immediate delivery.

Broadband diode interference filters ideal for NIR laser diode applications
Edmund Optics' new Broadband Diode Interference Filters are ideally suited for use with NIR laser diodes. They are typically used in the laser path, to eliminate noise in the laser diode, itself. Each filter is mounted in a 12.7 mm or 25.4 mm diameter metal ring. These filters are designed for easy integration using EO's C-mount optic mounts. They provide greater than 70% transmission with blocking greater than OD4. An excellent value compared to competitive filters, EO's Broadband Diode Interference Filters are available for 880 nm, 905 nm, 1300 nm and 1550 nm wavelengths with either 12.7 mm or 25.4 mm diameter metal rings. They are in-stock and ready for immediate delivery.

Gregg Fales, Product Line Manager, Edmund Optics, summarized the versatile, economical new filters, "Our two new families of laser-line bandpass filters offer tremendous performance and value. Our narrow bandpass filters offer an industry-leading bandwidth of 1 nm, while providing transmissions of greater than 50% and an extended blocking range. The broadband diode filters offer transmission of greater than 70% at a price of less than $100 for a one-inch diameter filter. Both are ideal for enhancing signal-to-noise ratios of laser-based analytical instrumentation."
