November 28, 2008 - Model 4154 HP Fiber Repeater with RS232 Monitor Port is used to regenerate data signals in order to extend range to greater than 1,640 ft between optically linked data terminals and may also be used to monitor network traffic. Fiber optic communication standard allows data transmission that is unsusceptible to electrostatic/electromagnetic fields, and RS-232 monitor port is protected from damage by potential differences. Fiber connections are via 2 standard Versatile Link connectors.

New HP Fiber Repeater Offers Interference-Free Data Transfer with Extended Range and RS232 Traffic Monitoring

Electro Standards Laboratories (ESL), Cranston, RI announces the new Model 4154 HP Fiber Repeater with RS232 Monitor Port. This Fiber Optic Repeater is used to regenerate data signals in order to extend the range between optically linked data terminals. It also has the capability to monitor network traffic via an RS232 Monitor Port. The fiber optic communication standard also allows data transmission that is no longer susceptible to electrostatic or electromagnetic fields. Additionally, the RS-232 monitor port is protected from damage by potential differences (ground variations) that often exist between them.

This Repeater provides full galvanic isolation (no metallic connection) between connected devices and allows the interference-free fiber optical transfer of data to be regenerated and its range extended. Fiber connections are via two standard Versatile Link connectors. Link Distance is greater than 500 meters (1640 feet) with 200 mm Hard Clad Silicon fiber cable.

Electro Standards also supplies HP Versatile Link Plastic Core cables. For more information, contact Electro Standards Laboratories at 401-943-1164, eslab@electrostandards.com, www.ElectroStandards.com. All ESL products are available for export.
